Phase 1 / 4

Great ideas don’t
happen in a vacuum.

light

The best ideas happen when people brainstorm and work together. Join The Professional Network to share and discuss ideas about how to improve the network with other Braintrust users, including clients, Talent, and investors. Once there is consensus on a change, you can write (or contribute to) a proposal for the first vote type: off-chain voting. Want to learn more about what you can propose?

Vote Off-Chain

Phase 1 / 4

Gather the majority consensus.

code-img

Off-chain voting occurs in Snapshot, a tool used specifically for governance polling. Each proposal goes through 2 steps:

1
Temperature check

This is a simple yes/no poll that is used to determine Community interest. If a simple majority votes yes, the proposal moves to the next step.

2
Consensus check

This step enables variable voting choices and helps to refine proposals and lead to a concrete resolution.

Vote On-Chain

Phase 1 / 4

Make changes to smart contracts immediately and automatically.

Once a large stake proposal passes off-chain voting, it moves to on-chain voting. On-chain voting occurs on the Braintrust governance site and is used to determine outcomes that require a change in the blockchain's smart contract code that can be implemented automatically and without Braintrust’s intervention.

An example of these types of proposals is changing Braintrust's fees or token rewards.

The final phase of governance is the Execution Period, also called Enactment Period or Time Lock. This is a phase where the community conducts a final technical review and ensures the successful implementation of approved proposals.

As the Braintrust network continues to decentralize, more control is expected to be placed in the hands of its users, and additional new, organic forms of governance are expected to develop within the network.
